Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Black Mesa Ventures LLC (“Black Mesa,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) governing your use of Narc Detector and its related services (the “Services”). By using the Services, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

1. What Narc Detector is

Narc Detector is an educational and informational tool that uses automated systems to identify possible communication patterns in user-submitted text, such as gaslighting, blame shifting, guilt tripping, coercion, boundary violations, and contempt.

Narc Detector does not diagnose narcissistic personality disorder or any other mental-health condition. Results are automated opinions, may be incomplete or wrong, and are not medical, mental-health, legal, safety, or emergency advice. Do not rely on the Services as the sole basis for an important personal, legal, medical, financial, or safety decision.

2. Eligibility and acceptable use

You must be at least 13 years old and legally able to agree to these Terms. You agree not to:

• submit content you do not have the legal right to use;
• use the Services to stalk, harass, threaten, defame, exploit, or make automated decisions about another person;
• submit unlawful content or highly sensitive information that is unnecessary for analysis;
• reverse engineer, scrape, disrupt, bypass limits, or misuse the Services; or
• represent a Narc Detector result as a clinical diagnosis, expert opinion, or proven fact.

3. Your content

You retain your rights in content you submit. You grant us a limited, nonexclusive license to host, transmit, reproduce, and process that content solely as needed to operate, secure, and improve the Services and to provide the analysis you request. You represent that you have the rights and permissions necessary to submit the content.

4. Automated results

Language, relationships, and context are complex. Results may contain errors, miss context, or identify a pattern that is not present. Scores are product-generated indicators, not scientific or clinical measurements. You are responsible for independently evaluating results and for your decisions and actions.

5. Subscriptions and billing

Paid features may be offered through automatically renewing subscriptions. Before purchase, the app will display the subscription name, duration, price, and included features. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. Unless canceled, a subscription renews automatically at the disclosed price and interval. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple Account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period. Refund requests are handled under Apple’s policies. Available features and prices may vary by location and may change as permitted by law.

Current subscribers can use the app’s Restore Purchases function to restore eligible access. Deleting the app or an account does not automatically cancel an Apple subscription.

6. Apple terms

If you obtained the app through Apple’s App Store, Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. If these Terms conflict with Apple’s mandatory terms, Apple’s mandatory terms control to the extent of the conflict.

7. Ownership

Narc Detector, including its software, branding, design, content, scoring systems, and other materials, is owned by Black Mesa Ventures LLC or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms give you a personal, limited, revocable, nontransferable license to use the Services for their intended purpose.

8. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Services at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, create risk or legal exposure, fail to pay applicable fees, or misuse the Services. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive.

9. Disclaimers

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT RESULTS WILL BE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR SUITABLE FOR YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES.

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BLACK MESA VENTURES LLC AND ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, GOODWILL, OR OPPORTUNITY, ARISING FROM THE SERVICES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF $100 OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICES IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

11. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Black Mesa Ventures LLC from claims, liabilities, losses, and expenses arising from your content, your misuse of the Services, or your violation of these Terms or another person’s rights.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where the law of your residence requires otherwise. Any dispute not subject to a mandatory alternative process will be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction, subject to applicable consumer law.

13. Changes and contact

We may update these Terms by posting a revised version and updating the effective date. Your continued use after the change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms, where permitted by law.
